Lying in between Anse Fourmis and Anse Cocos on La Digue's east coast, Anse Caïman is a challenging treasure to behold. Its northern reach tests the most daring, often only revealing itself at low tide. However, a safer passage exists through Anse Cocos, albeit still a test of will. For those who conquer this path, remnants of the past—a forsaken house and a proud pirogue shed—stand as silent witnesses to a bygone era. Its pools offer picturesque moments, and while the sea's depths may not be welcoming for a swim, the enigma of Anse Caïman rewards the brave-hearted explorer. Yet, a seasoned guide's company is always a prudent choice.
This beach, often deserted, can be challenging to access due to massive rock outcrops. Most visitors come guided, en route to other beaches. The pathway can be treacherous, especially from the north-west, due to slick rocks. Access is simpler via Anse Cocos in the south but is generally with a tour guide. The beach splits into two parts, with the northern segment accessible mainly at low tide, which can be perilous. Pools and granite boulders present excellent photo opportunities. Trees shield from the sun.
